Drivers and cars from some of NSW’s largest automotive clubs will flock to Wakefield Park this Sunday, 26 July, for the ultimate test of consistency, strategy and teamwork: the Wakefield 6 Hour Regularity Relay.

The event has become one of Wakefield Park’s most popular events over the last five years, due to its emphasis on groups of like-minded car enthusiasts joining together, and enjoying the social aspects of the race meeting.

Unlike most motorsport events, the 6 Hour is not a speed-based competition. Instead, each driver nominates a lap time and must stay as close to that time as they can. Each team consists of five or six drivers and cars, who share driving throughout the six hours. A mathematical formula is used to determine which team has been the most consistent overall, and this team is declared the winner.

There are a number of other trophies up for grabs as well, including an award for the most consistent individual driver, and the best-presented team.

A total of 14 teams have entered for this year’s event, including the defending winners, the NSW Road Runners, consisting of Jon Mansell (Nissan Pulsar), Alex Veryinis (HSV Clubsport), Damien Hart (Mitsubishi Evo), Richard Woodward (Holden Monaro) and Roger Ranfil (Mitsubishi Evo).

The Road Runners are one of six teams entered in the event by the NSW Road Racing Club, while there have also been teams entered by the Fiat Club of NSW, NSW BMW Car Club, Austin 7 Club of South Australia and Southern Sporting Car Club.

There are also two separate teams of Subaru WRXs: Team Cardiff Automotive and Autotech Engineering.

Practice for the 2015 Wakefield 6 Hour will be held on Sunday morning, with the 6 Hour event running from 10:30am until 4:30pm, followed by the trophy presentation.

Admission for all spectators is free.
